The Internet as a tool
When it’s time to get online, the Punkt. phone MP02’s 4G LTE connection can be shared with a tablet/laptop – which means easier typing in comparison with a smartphone, and a bigger screen. This two-device approach means that the Internet is something you dip into, rather than the other way round.

Focus is at a premium in the digital age. The MP02 4G mobile phone makes it easier to be where you are, whether that’s a family weekend away or an important business meeting. It gives you freedom from a constant onslaught of designed-for-addiction notifications and other distractions. It puts you in charge.

The Punkt. MP02 minimalist phone is built for connecting with people. It’s comfortable to hold and to use and features excellent audio quality and battery life: a voice phone that works as a phone, with up-to-the-minute styling and an interface that is elegant and efficient.
Low-key, stylish design
The instantly-recognisable MP02 is the work of renowned product designer Jasper Morrison. It is built around effective simplicity: press the phonebook button to make a call, press the text button to send a message. For everything else, there’s a fast, lean menu system: up, down, select, go.
Designed for security
The Punkt. cell phone’s minimalist operating system is hardened against attacks. Coupled with the fact that it is not designed around its owner entering sensitive personal information like bank details, private images, etc., this is a phone built for autonomy in the 21 st century.
Pigeon
The MP02 Pigeon phone is the first voicephone to offer a downloadable privacy feature that uses the Signal protocol to provide free, encrypted Internet-based calls and texts worldwide via Wi Fi or mobile data (subject to data charges). We believe Signal provides vastly greater security compared to the widely-used encrypted alternatives, which exist primarily as tools for harvesting and selling valuable metadata (contacts lists, who communicated with whom, when it happened, etc.). In the Signal system, all metadata is encrypted.
By using the Signal-protocol, it is possible to add group messaging and voice messages to the MP02.

Bespoke tones
The MP02’s unique ringtones have their own pedigree: they are the work of respected Norwegian sound artist Kjetil Røst Nilsen.

Pigeon is Signal-compatible
Pigeon is compatible with the Signal system which uses VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology to make phone calls and exchange text messages. The connection is made via an Internet connection, either Wi-Fi or a phone’s mobile data service. It is free to use (subject to standard data charges that may apply),and interacts with the Signal app which is available as a free download for almost all smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktop computers.
Pigeon is private
Pigeon uses the Signal protocol, recognised as the de facto standard for encrypted messaging. Signal is operated by an independent non-profit foundation and its code is open-source and therefore subject to public scrutiny. Unlike other services, metadata is encrypted (caller/sender, recipient, time of call/message, etc.). Central records are limited to when a Signal account was first created and the date of when it was last used, nothing more: messages and metadata are not stored on central servers. Signal’s users include the UK’s Conservative Party, the EU’s European Commission, and the United States government.
Group Conversations
More control of group conversations, and share a group link to invite people to join conversations.
Backup Chats
Store conversation history locally on the MP02 with an encrypted backup that can be restored onto a different device, or saved if you uninstall the feature.
Messages
Send messages to contacts on Signal, pick out and quote a message in a discussion, turn on auto-trim messages to automatically trim messages, and unsend messages before recipients receive them with the take back feature.
Voice messages
Quick, convenient, and with a personal touch – sent to an individual or to groups.
Link to desktop
Send and receive encrypted Pigeon messages on your computer, or tablet, with contacts on Signal.
Change number
Change a registered account phone number without losing chat data.
Self-destruct setting
All messages in a thread can be set to automatically disappear on recipients’ devices after they have been opened. Duration is adjustable, from seconds to days.
Read receipts
These indicate that a message has been opened by the recipient.
Typing indicator
Contemporaneous indication of when a party in the discussion is composing a message.
Dedicated notification sounds
Customisable alert tones (or none), specific to each discussion.
Note to self

Registration Lock
This option provides extra account security with a settable PIN code at registration.
Archiving facility

Apostrophy
Apostrophy is the Swiss-based company that provides the MP02s secure operating system. It has recently launched a fully encrypted email, contacts, and calendar service. Fee-based: no user data is sold.
Digital independence
As the saying goes, “If you are using a tech company’s services without paying them a fee, you are not the customer. You are the product.”
The reason that personal data fetches such high prices is that it is a path to power, a route to ownership. Switching to paid-for tech services is an essential step towards autonomy in this era of internal surveillance. Apostrophy uses Swiss-based servers that are covered by Switzerland’s stringent data protection laws.
Information minimalism
DailyView is intentionally simple, designed as an alternative to jotting down a few notes on a piece of paper. Essential information is readily available, without the user being drawn into a distraction episode.

The QWSTION phone case is made in Zurich using Bananatex ®: a fabric notable for the fact that it comes from the banana tree. The lining is Merino-rayon felt, and the extractor strap is veg-tanned leather. The water-resistant coating is natural wax, and the entire product is plastic-free and biodegradable.

About Danny P.
Daniel Piterak’s company began when he wanted an elegant and well-fitted leather case for his own phone, and was dissatisfied with what was then available. That was in 2013, and since then the company (trading as Danny P.) has expanded to produce a range of luxury leather goods that sell across the world – all hand crafted in their small factory in the Czech Republic, some 70 miles south east of Prague.
